Customer Background:
The Public Wi-Fi network has been set up in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur and Murree with 106 sites and over 450 Wi-Fi Access Points across 192 locations including educational and government buildings, public parks, markets, hospitals, railway stations, and bus stations.
Situation
Punjab IT board wanted to accomplish free public Wi-Fi services in various public areas only to enthrall the general public, but also to provide free easy connectivity to the common public. Since such massive free Wi-Fi Project never was deployed and commissioned in Pakistan. NETS team was able to win and complete the project within time and approved budget, along with three-year Operations and Maintenance contract for monitoring and support services for all end active / passive wireless services.
Solution
NETS team of engineers with their strenuous efforts performed extensive site surveys, project planning, implementation and configuration of Wi-Fi sites which were primarily equipped with Cisco equipment. The technical team members which were responsible for Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Multan, Gujar Khan, Murree sites as routed by PITB/PTCL. The internet services were enabled by Cisco Firewall which blocked any malicious or forbidden sites which may cause damage to youth, society, and culture. NETS worked closely with PTCL on this project, as well as looked after the operations and maintenance of the project. A team of Resident Engineers were also provided to PTCL who actively looked after complete reporting and support across all 192 locations across the province. NETS team also looked after the preventive maintenance and ongoing support of the project.
