Customer Background:
PTCL is the national telecom company and the largest provider of telephone / internet services in Pakistan. PTCL is also the backbone for country’s telco infrastructure nationwide
Situation
PTCL decided to launch a new SDDC (Software Defined Data Center) in their facility located in Karachi, Pakistan. The planned revamped network infrastructure was required to be more responsive to the changing requirements such as high scalability, flexibility, improved visibility and compliance, business agility, network security and automation. Customer also wanted to achieve other key business benefits including Reduced Time to deliver new services, High Availability, Scalability, Improved Security capabilities and Elimination of Manual Repetitive Processes and workloads along with Better Network Orchestration. The greatest challenge was to build a DR site with Software Defined capabilities whereas the primary site was still the traditional production Data Center running live services which were not supposed to be impacted.
Solution
It was a challenging project for NETS Pakistan (NE) team involving expertise of multiple technology domains, NETS team assigned their top certified and most experienced infrastructure consultants who led to seamless migration from traditional Data Center to ACI without rendering any down time. The solution was primarily based on Cisco ACI, Cisco Policy Controllers, Cisco Nexus Switches, Cisco ASR WAN/MPLS Routers, Cisco Firepower Firewalls, VMware Hyper-V, as well as Physical L4-L7 services. As part of the project scope, NETS team also replaced WAN & MPLS edge routers and introduced new Firewall services in all service flows.
